In this unit we will be looking at the how the political process works in Canada. For our project, we will hold a mock election, with members of the class taking on the role of members of a political party or a lobby group. This activity will help us to answer the key questions, including:
o What are the branches of government and what are their responsibilities?
o How are members elected/appointed to those branches of government?
o Why do we need political parties and how do their platforms differ?
o What role does the media play?
o What are lobby groups and why are they important?
o How are laws passed?
o How does all of this impact citizenship and identity?
